Wing Configuration

  Wing Configuration :
  • Principle: 
Once your machine is setup, you can define a cut project. The following menu allows to define:
     
  1. The wing geometry,
  2. The block size,
  3. Characteristics of the cut operation.
The following list describes each menu parameter and its range:

Wing half span mm 0 100000 Length of wing. The block may be longer to allow later cut of the extremities (to avoid  wire kerf problem
Wing sweep back mm     wing sweep back, measured at tip. Activated for trapezoidal wing. The dimension is measured at leading edge.
Différent Profiles Y/N - - Activate the second configuration area of the menu and the choice of a tip airfoil section in the configuration pop-up menu.
It allows to define different airfoil section for both extremities of the wing, or to modify a parameter of the airfoil (for instance to minor the relative thickness at wing tip).
Skin Y/N - - Activate the field for skin thickness
Chord mm 10 1000 Maximum is the width of the table.
Leading edge Margin mm 0 >3000 Allow to set the cut margin before the leading edge.
Trailing edge Margin mm 0 >3000 Allow to set the cut margin after the trailing edge.
Twist Degree -90 +90 Angle between the reference chord and the table plane.
Basic height mm 0 100 Distance between the reference chord of the airfoil section and the table plane. This filed allows to adjust the height of the airfoil within the bock.
Camber % Not Active Not Active Allows to modify the camber, compute the new mean chord of the airfoil section. 
Thickness % 0 - Allows to modify the relative thickness of the airfoil section (thickness relative to the chord dimension as pourcent). For each couple of points (intrados and extrados), the middle of the segment is determined. Then the distance from this point to the extrados point (or intrados point) is modified. Last, the new coordinates of the section are computed.
Skin mm 0 - Allow to modify the cut section to deal with the thickness of a skin. Note that the skinmay be positive. As a consequence, the section become thicker than the initial airfoil, which may be usefull when cutting foamie wing to get a thick (and so strong) trailing edge.
